Season 1

Book to be announced

6 sessions · from January 2027

Why read

Reading is one of the best tools to improve your language and communication skills.

In every country, students grow up reading, then writing and discussing their ideas.

The benefits

01

Immerse yourself in another world

Step into someone else's life and see things from new perspectives.

02

Learn new words

Pick up vocabulary in context, where it's easier to remember.

03

Adapt to a writer's tone and voice

Get used to different styles of English, not just one.

04

See natural ways of saying things

Notice how ideas are really phrased, then borrow them.

The hard part

Reading in another language is harder, so we take it slow and do it together.

The challenge

It takes more time, and it's not as easy.

How we handle it

We take it slow, with small goals each week and summaries provided to support the discussion.

The challenge

It can feel intimidating, even dreadful.

How we handle it

You're not alone: we do it together, and the shared experience makes the next reading more exciting.

How it works

Weekly rhythm over six weeks to read and share your thoughts in English

  • Small online groups

Up to 6 people, so everyone gets to talk.

  • 80-minute discussions

I choose the book and moderate all six sessions.

  • One book per season

A new book about every two months.

  • Week 0: meet the group

A shorter session before Week 1 to meet the group and introduce yourselves, with no reading required.

What's included

Weekly study notes, with:

  • Key words and expressions
  • A short plain-English summary, so you can join even if you're behind
  • Discussion prompts
  • A "sentence spotlight"
  • An optional "go deeper" extra

Who it's for

For anyone who wants to grow their English.

  • Anyone who wants to improve their English and could use a weekly rhythm of reading with others.
  • Professionals, students, hobbyists: all paths welcome.
  • Intermediate level and up (see the level check).

Level check

Intermediate and up: around B1, or TOEIC 700+.

Not sure? Pre-register anyway, and we can check your level together by email or on a short call.

A note from Kevin

Before I started my career working with people, I studied writing and literature. Reading and writing teach you how to think, how to simplify, and how to read the room. You pick up new words and patterns, and a feel for rhythm, pacing, tone and nuance. The best communicators are often avid readers, and I want to bring that to Tokyo.
